Julia Bancroft, Principal
Julia Bancroft
With a robust and dynamic background in family law, child support, criminal prosecution, and appellate litigation, Julia has focused solely on family law matters since 2008. Julia is especially passionate about child support and visitation issues, and encouraging parent facilitation (helping parents learn to resolve their legal and personal differences outside of court, to co-parent most effectively). Married almost 30 years to Mark, with 4 children of her own and one grandchild, Julia is dedicated to guiding clients, other attorneys, and the community to truly put Texas children first.
Julia was first licensed to practice law in California in 2000, and obtained her Texas license in 2008. A graduate of the University of Nebraska (with a full academic and performance scholarship), and J. Reuben Clark Law School, Julia has been happy to call Texas home since 2005. Before opening Julia Bancroft PC, Family Law, Julia worked as a Deputy Attorney General for the California Department of Justice in Sacramento, an appellate attorney by special appointment for the Third and Fifth California District Courts of Appeal, a Child Support Enforcement Attorney for the Harris County Domestic Relations Office in Houston, and a Senior Family Attorney for the firm of Sowell, Alvares & Walls, PLLC in Katy.
While with the Department of Justice in California, Julia not only completed the intensive 4-part Presentation and Leadership Skills Program for Professionals, but was asked thereafter to teach the program to DOJ employees throughout California in addition to her legal duties. Julia is an original Panel Member and Advisor for the monthly Child Support Round-Table Discussion Series created by IV-D Associate Judge Veronica Torrez, and is the author of “Enforcement Essentials.” In 2011, Julia was honored to be invited into the prestigious Burta Rhoads Raborn Inn of Court, a society of Houston family law attorneys that seeks to promote professionalism, civility, and integrity in the legal community, where she has served since 2016 as a Team Leader.
In the past few years, in addition to her normal family law caseload, Julia has been honored to be appointed as Amicus Attorney in a number of cases, to assist courts in helping to determine the best interests of children. If you have a family law issue, a child support, possession, or alienation case, or are interested in a more civil and kind divorce, Julia will take the time to help you through the legal process, in a compassionate but forceful way, to do what is best for you, your family, and your children.
